Nyland School About Us

Joining Nyland

The local authority is the placing/admitting authority for Nyland School, and decisions on placement are made by the Special Educational Needs and Disability Panel. Pupils at our school normally have an education health care plan (EHCP), and the type of school appropriate for each pupil is always named in section I (Education Placement) after the outcome of the statutory assessment.

The Special Educational Needs Assessment Team at Swindon Borough Council can be contacted on 01793 463000.

For more information, visit Swindon Borough Council’s care and support information and advice website: My Care, My Support.

Visiting the school

You are welcome to visit us to help you make the decision as to whether we are the right educational provision for your child, but please do not expect us to ensure your child gains a place. It is, however, important that you make your views clear to the resource and assessment panel as parents’ views are always taken into consideration.

You can always telephone us to ask questions and to gain support and advice, but we cannot recommend placement to our school or any other educational provision. We can, however, point you in the direction of professionals who can assist you in these important decisions.

Referrals

Are you a parent, carer, or work in a residential setting and would like to discuss a referral in confidence?

We are always happy to help and talk through the process and possibilities with your family.
