In recent years, the health of the nation has regularly been called into question. Government statistics show that two thirds of adults, a quarter of 2- to 10-year-olds, and one third of 11- to 15-year-olds in the UK are overweight or obese.
The continued health of pupils is one of our top priorities, and that is why we are celebrating Healthy Eating Week. At Nyland School, we believe that we have a responsibility to teach pupils about making healthy choices when it comes to food, and the British Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Week is a great opportunity for us to discuss this topic.
Throughout this week, we will be conducting a variety of lessons and activities to educate children on different food groups, the benefits of healthy eating, and how to achieve a balanced diet.
Making significant health changes requires a joint effort from our school, children, and parents. We encourage parents to make healthy food choices at home on behalf of their children. By working together, we can make sure that children develop healthy food habits that stay with them throughout their adult life.
