I have nothing but praise for Nylands school and in visiting the other provisions, where there is a clear lack of curriculum learning - this one was by far our choice. My son spent 2 years out of the class in mainstream as couldn’t cope with the sensory issues, sounds etc….now he is fully integrated in classroom and his self-regulation has improved 100% - some may find the teaching style strict, but I think it’s faultless and much better than some mainstreams in all honesty as they are teaching the child skills to enable them to return to mainstream eventually and integrate into society….priceless skills that set them up for life

How to Join Our School
The local authority is the placing/admitting authority for Nyland School, and decisions on placement are made by the Special Educational Needs and Disability Panel. Pupils at our school normally have an education health care plan (EHCP), and the type of school appropriate for each pupil is always named in section I (Education Placement) after the outcome of the statutory assessment.

Visiting the school
You are welcome to visit us to help you make the decision as to whether we are the right educational provision for your child, but please do not expect us to ensure your child gains a place. It is, however, important that you make your views clear to the resource and assessment panel as parents’ views are always taken into consideration.
You can always telephone us to ask questions and to gain support and advice, but we cannot recommend placement to our school or any other educational provision. We can, however, point you in the direction of professionals who can assist you in these important decisions.
